The Nexus is a wrestling stable that consists of all the members from season 1 of WWE’s NXT, which was a show based with rookies competing to get a full time contract with either one of WWE’s shows. On June 1st 2010, Wade Barrett was declared the winner of the competition, and on the Viewer’s Choice edition of Raw, the entire world witnessed all eight competitors invade the Raw zone, and proceed to destroy anything that represented the Raw brand, including the announcers table, and the ring itself.
For the next few weeks they appeared on Raw and attacked specific people, and began to attack John Cena on a regular basis, as well as other specific Superstars, which led to John Cena creating a temporary faction to meet The Nexus at Summerslam August 2010. Daniel Bryan (who was released after the destruction of the Raw set for breaking the WWE’s violence rules, and was kicked out of Nexus because of it), made his return to compete against his former team mates, and the final battle saw John Cena making leader Wade Barrett tap out.
The next night on Raw, all the members of Nexus were in singles matches, with the stipulation of if they lose they’re kicked out of Nexus. That night Darren Young not only lost, but was beaten by the remaining members.
On August 18th 2010, Skip Sheffield broke his ankle at a live event, and brought the Nexus down to a five man stable, as he would be laid up for a few months. At the pay-per-view ‘Hell in the Cell’ Barrett and Cena had a match that if Cena lost he had to join Nexus, but if Cena won, or Nexus got involved, then Nexus would be disbanded.
Barrett won the match with the help from Nxt season 2 competitors Husky Harris, and Michael McGillicutty. The following night on Raw, Michael Tarver was ousted from The Nexus. At ‘Bragging Rights’ The Nexus finally achieved their first titles since joining the Raw brand when Cena and David Otunga won the tag team championship.
